After being down two sets to none, Teams Sask’s Women’s Volleyball team battled back to take Team Alberta to a fifth set in Thursday’s Quarterfinal match. Team Sask posted scores of 20-25, 17-25, 30-28, 25-23 before losing 9-15 in the fifth set. Team Sask got off to slow starts and had trouble with their serve-receive giving Alberta two quick wins. The girls were not about to lie down and battled Alberta to a nail-biting 30-28 win in the third set. In the fourth set Team Sask cme out with some momentum and held off a late Alberta rally to win 25-23 forcing the fifth and deciding set. The Team Sask girls got out the gate very slow in that fifth set getting down 6-1 early and never recovered losing 9-15 in the fifth.
On offense, Meagan Onstad led the team with 10 kills with 8 kills being shared by Candace Hueser and Roxanne Olynyk. Defensively, Kaitlin Hughes had 14 digs with Onstad chipping in with 12 digs. Team Sask will play Quebec for the 5th and 6th place game Friday at 8pm in the U.P.E. I. gymnasium.
