Behind a great pitching performance by Taylor MacDonnell, a walk off hit by Jon Cotter in the bottom of the 7th, and a good relief appearance by Tyler McWhirter, Team Sask defeated BC 5-4 in a very exciting game at MacNeill Field in Stratford. Sask had a 3-2 lead going into the top of the 7th and with 2 out BC battled back to tie the score. Team Sask was not shaken. In the bottom of the 7th, Craig Hucul stroked a double off the left field wall with one out to give Team Sask a chance to win. Cotter would make that double count as with 2 out and Hucul standing on 3rd he blasted a shot to the right-center field gap and Hucul trotted home for the win. Coach Roger Anholt said “this was truly a gutsy and gritty performance today. We got a few opportunities and took advantage of whatever was given to us…that is the sign of a winning team.” Offensively, Team Sask was lead by Evan Zerff who had 2 hits, Ryan Tulloch & Taylor Van De Sype each had a double. Team Sask has two games on Wednesday playing Alberta at 1:00 p.m. (live on TSN) and then again at 7:30 versus the host PEI squad.
