The Team Sask bats came alive today leading them to two big wins! The girls showed their power in both of their games today. The first game had Team Sask facing PEI in Kensington. The girls came out strong scoring one run in their first inning. Their bats remained fairly quiet until the fifth when Desiree Ates went deep, for the third time this week. Team Sask rallied together after that to score six runs, on ten hits, which was a tournament high for them so far. Shelley Wickstrom pitched all seven innings giving up only two hits. They faced Newfoundland in their final round robin game. Team Sask came out blazing in the top of the first inning with two runs. The bats stayed alive through the second and the third innings.  The whole team contributed putting together sixteen runs on fifteen hits but Casey Simpson capped it off by hitting a grand slam over the left centerfield fence.  Desiree Ates pitched all three, surrendering no hits.
The girls had lots of support from the men’s basketball team who came out and cheered loudly! Thanks again to all the parents and family supporters who came out faithfully to all the games.
Although the team did not achieve the result they were hoping for at these games, the gals and coaching staff were great ambassadors for Team Sask and they played their hearts out.
