The head coaches for Team Sask beach volleyball are Rob Tomyn (male) and Maureen
Sebastian (female). Coach Tomyn is Saskatchewan's most experienced beach volleyball coach having led Team Sask at the 2001 Canada Summer Games in London, Ontario. Coach Sebastian is Saskatchewan's most decorated woman's beach volleyball athlete having competed at beach volleyball Nationals on five occasions.
INFORMATION FOR ATHLETES
Do I need a partner to tryout? No - Individual athletes are being selected, not beach teams. The coach will use training and competitions in June to decide on which two players form the best team.
Do I need to have beach volleyball playing experience? Although beach experience is an asset it is not required. Indoor playing experience in a university or college program, or with a competitive club or Provincial Team at a National Championship is also an asset.
When and where are the tryouts? Friday, May 22nd from 6-9PM (U of Regina) / Saturday, May 23rd from 9AM-5PM (Regina Rugby Club) / Sunday, May 24th from 9AM-3PM (U of Regina)
What ages can tryout? For the men's tryout athletes born in 1987-1991 are welcome. For the women's tryout athletes born in 1988-1992 are welcome.
Do I need to register for the tryout? Yes - Please register on the SVA website at
www.saskvolleyball.ca, click ‘ONLINE REGISTRATION.'
Is there a fee to be involved? No - Expenses for the pre-determined competition schedule are covered by the SVA. Equipment and uniforms are provided by the SVA.
When does training begin and where? The weekend following the tryout camp, May 30-31, in Regina at the University of Regina beach volleyball courts.
